After visiting Lamberts Café – Home of the Throwed Rolls, I had two regrets…the first regret is that I didn’t bring a catcher’s mitt.

Because the rolls at Lambert’s Café are delicious (my kids loved them.) And you are going to get a lot of these rolls thrown at you.

Literally.

So unless you have the hands of Travis Kelce or play catcher like Salvador Perez, chances are you will drop a few rolls thrown your way.

Are you up for the challenge?

Sitting in a roomy booth. Hard wood, though. Not cushy.

Lambert’s Café is the home of the throwed roll, and that is what makes this restaurant unique.

While waiting for your food, you not only get to eat as many rolls as you like, you also get the free entertainment of watching grandmothers trying to catch a roll thrown at them across the dining room.

My family knows from experience how challenging some of the throws are to catch…but no worries. If you drop one, the “pitcher” (server) will throw you another fast ball, I mean, roll.

But when you come to Lambert’s Café, home of the throwed roles, be sure to bring your appetite, because rolls are no the only thing on the menu.

What else can you eat at Lambert’s Café besides throwed rolls?

The menu at Lambert’s is filled with American “comfort foods.”

There are three Lambert’s locations, and the Loomis’s visited the one in Ozark, Missouri. If you look at the menus online, you will see some slight differences in the foods offered, but they all made me drool when I looked them over. And they are all pretty similar with their menus overall.

At Lambert’s Cafe in Ozark, Missouri, there are many “down home” items on the menu.

Entree’s include lots of chicken dishes like:

— Chicken & Dumplings

— Chicken Fried Steak

— Chicken Livers or Gizzards

Burgers and Sandwiches, including:

— Pulled Pork Sandwich

–Hot Beef Sandwich

— Lambert Burger

Lambert’s is a meat lovers paradise. Some options to eat here include:

— KC Strip Steak

— Pork Chops

— BBQ Pork Combo

And if you’re in the mood for seafood, check out these options:

— Fried Catfish

— Grilled Salmon

— Shrimp Dinner

— Frog Legs (is that seafood? Maybe not. Still good, though)

And here are some more menu entree’s you’ll find at Lambert’s Café in Ozark, Missouri.

— Meatloaf

— Polish Sausage & Kraut

— Chicken Pot Pie

— Hog Jowl

— Chicken Tenders

And I cannot leave out the amazing side dishes. (You get to choose two with most of the entree’s)

Corn, Bakes Potato, Green Beans, Sliced Beets, Cole Slaw, Turnip Greens, Cucumber & Onions, Cottage Cheese, Baby Carrots, Potato Salad, Applesauce, Sliced Peaches, Baked Beans,, White Beans, Candied Yams, Homemade Mashed Potatoes

Hungry?

But wait. There’s more.

Let’s See What the Loomis Clan Ate at Lambert’s Café: Home of the Throwed Rolls

The Mrs.

My lovely wife ordered from the sandwich section: the Hot Beef Sandwich.

Hot Beef Sandwich Open-Faced

This is an open-faced pot roast sandwich, served with mashed potatoes and any other sides you want to include. (More than two sides is extra.) My wife added green beans and sliced peaches to hers.

She enjoyed the meal a lot.

Price: the Hot Beef Sandwich with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw was $13.99

Me:

When I get a chance to have some good beef liver and onions with gravy, I will jump at it. This is a dish I never make at home. But I love it so much, not only for the unique taste but also for the iron nutrients you get with it.

So I chose this, and I was happy with the results.

Beef Live & Onions with Turnip Greens and Green Beans

The turnip greens with the liver would have made “Iron Man” happy. We were just kicking off a vacation, and I knew there would be many treats along the way, so I chose sides that were low carb.

I wasn’t disappointed. This was a good meal. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. The gravy tasted fresh. I would definitely recommend this meal if you are a fan of liver and onions.

The Liver and Onions plate was $11.99.

The Kids:

If you have a child that’s a picky eater, I can relate–my son is VERY particular about his food.

We were pleased with Lambert’s Kid’s Menu, which consisted of all the famous standby’s that keep picky eaters happy. Your child can order chicken strips, mac and cheese, or grilled cheese sandwiches if that’s all they want. Or if your child is not picky (like my daughter), they have other items on the kid’s menu including cheeseburgers, meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, a chicken leg, even shrimp or catfish.

My son ordered the chicken tenders with fries:

He was pleased with this choice, but his taste buds were already happy thanks to the throwed rolls.

And my daughter ordered a hamburger with mashed potatoes and corn. I think she was also eating some of my wife’s peaches, according to this photo:

What about dessert at Lamberts Café, Home of the Throwed Rolls?

The family had other plans for dessert, so we did not order any sweet treats at Lambert’s Café…this time.

When we go back, I would like to try their peach or blackberry cobbler. I am a big fan of “cobblers” in general, and those two sound fantastic. You can order those for $4.99 and even add some ice cream “a la Mode” for another buck twenty-nine.

The other dessert option at Lambert’s Café in Ozark, Missouri is their cheesecake ($4.99). If you have tried Lambert’s cheesecake, tell us what you think in the comments!

My Second Regret

The only regret I have about my visit to Lambert’s Café – Home of the Throwed Rolls is that I didn’t get any video of the rolls flying across the dining room. I’ll make a point to do that next time.

Because that’s Lambert’s unique selling point: instead of daintily setting fresh baked rolls on your table, they throw them at you–and not just from three feet away. It’s usually more like twenty feet away.

This of course brings along with it a lot of fun–participating in the roll catching and watching other people catch, and sometimes drop, the rolls made for an amusing time

But the fact the Lambert’s Café also serves delicious food only makes a visit even more worthwhile.

So be sure to drop by Lambert’s Cafe when you get a chance–there are two locations in Missouri: Ozark and Sikeston.

There is also a Lambert’s Café in Foley, Alabama.

You can’t beat the free entertainment that comes along with the great food.

And don’t forget to bring your catcher’s mitt.
